Flower Identification

A friend sent me this picture along with others of some flowers she thought she might to plant. The problem is she doesn't know what this white flower is. I'm guessing it's definitely a tropical flower, possibly a type of plumeria or a Hawaiian flower and have a vague memory of a flower called Turks Turban. It's a long shot but I'm wondering if anyone has ever come across this unusual flower. TIA if anyone has a guess.

This tree has been making the rounds on different rare and unusual flower posts. It is the "Magic Dogwood" (cornus florida urbiniana). Here is one of the posts http://www.strangewonderfulthings.com/159.htm

OMG... what a gourgeous plant, I have never seen any like this.... It looks as if someone purposely tied them into ribbions. I can't wait to find out what it is called and how one would care for it.... Hope you'll get the answer you need.. Sorry i couldn't help.

Fritillaria Imperialis or Magic Dogwood. I'm not smart but I did a google search.

Oh wow! I only posted this question a VERY short time ago - maybe an hour? and I already have 3 responses. This board is fantastic! Thank you so much. @Maureen Wilson: I must not be doing my Google search as narrowly as I could so thank you. It seems as though it's a rare Mexican flower called "Magic Dogwood". @Barb Rosen: interesting that it's making the rounds so I guess something stirred up interest! Thanks to you all for replying.

I have never seen anything like it! On first glance it looks like some fabulous flower creation made using origami. Beautiful whatever it is.
