DIY Copper Light Fixture

I recently took part in a design challenge with a group of very talented bloggers. Each month, one of us picks an item from Home Depot and we all have to create something using this item.
For our first month, the item was this little copper "t". My very first thought was industrial light fixture, but I thought that would be too hard to pull off. After a week of trying to think of an alternative, I was beginning to worry I'd be the first one voted off the island.
After putting it out of my mind for awhile, I came across this light fixture on the Urban Outfitters website. It got me thinking that maybe I could pull off some type of light fixture after all.
So my husband and I went to Home Depot and picked up a variety of parts we thought we could use.
We were totally winging it as we went along. We started with soldering a piece to the copper t for the center of the fixture.
We also picked up a few of these lighting kits to use as the sockets.
And then we really just pieced everything together to make our version of an industrial light fixture. The two arms on the ends are actually adjustable and could also face down as the middle does. I like the more modern look of them adjusted out, as in this picture.
I am amazed at what everyone came up with using this little copper piece. Such creativity! Visit the link below to see them all.
