Romantic February Floral

It’s hard for me to picture living in a temperate climate, because as much as I hate the snow and frost, I’m very much in tune with the change of seasons. With January comes a quest for the purity of white and the fresh start it signals, but as the month fades on, I find myself ready for a renewed touch of color. With the arrival of Valentine’s Day my soul seeks out the warm blush of pinks and what better place to start than with a romantic February floral?
A happy little arrangement in a shapely repousse pitcher is just the pick-me-up I was looking for. I’m a passionate flower lover with very little actual botanical knowledge, so you will find I often don’t know the names of the flowers I use. I work by instinct instead, basing arrangements on color, shape, texture and flow.
This gorgeous pink makes my heart skip a beat. I have no idea what the flower is called, so please leave me a comment if you know it’s name.
Of course, even I can identify hydrangeas and this whispery soft pink is oh so romantic.
I like when an arrangement follows the spirit of its container, and here the curves of the pitcher suggest a flow for the floral. The bushy hydrangea dips down over the handle, while the perkier stems pop up following the line of the spout. For details, please visit the blog.
