Adding Age to A Thrift Store Dough Bowl

I LOVE an antique dough bowl, so when I saw this at the thrift store for $5, I pounced. Clearly this isn't antique (or at least the finish wasn't nearly as rustic and aged as I liked), but the shape was just right... This finish would work on any sort of wooden thrift store find... either stripping the paint or sanding it off to reveal the wood underneath.
This is nothing like the bowl I brought home from the thrift store...
Here's how it looked at first. Right shape, wrong vibe. Didn't appear old or weathered in the slightest.
