Kitchen storage

KA W
by KA W
I have a two door cabinet over the stove in the kitchen. I would like some ideas as to what items should be stored there. No spices, etc. should be over the stove. Also have similar cabinet though not as tall over the refrigerator.

dinner ware is probably a good idea. Maybe, but not sure, boxes goods. I wonder if they would absorb the moisture from boiling things on the stove.

Do your cookbooks pick up any moisture from the steam of something cooking on the stovetop?

my area looks just that, I confess I have nothing but decorative stuff, old canning jars , longaburger basket, etc. If I had pretty mixing bowls or something I didn't use often I would put them there just to cover the metal vent. A large platter propped up against the back with things in front..

I usually store extra items that I don't use on a daily basis like salt, baking soda, molasses, etc. I noticed you have a fan over your stove so it shouldn't be a problem. I have an electric stove and no hood and never have a problem with heat or moisture.

Because of the exhaust vent running through it sometimes critters venture in. Whatever goes in there will have to be in containers or plastic bags. I have shelves built on the wall above where I store my cookbooks.

Take some faux tin ceiling/ back splash tile and apply on the back wall and around the duct work. Store vases or platters, etc.

I store canning supplies there right now, but am "redecoranging" my kitchen and plan on removing the doors. After the doors are gone I'll store cookbooks n cute vintage items.

If you are leaving the doors on, take out the upper shelf and store cereal boxes there.

We put cans for cookies, mason jars, something that will be used once a year. Also I would think that anything you have in sealed canisters could be put up above the stove. We have our microwave above the stove so no problem with heat but is usual storage for containers you don't use often.

I would stack pretty things like Corningware, pitchers, bowls - things for serving. I would also choose a color to paint the inside of the cabinet to really show off the designs of your items.

Over the stove which has the broken microwave over it, I store my bread pans and the cat's monthly medicine drops, a pkg of napkins (they don't fit anywhere else), and I keep the cat's bag of treats there and when he wants some, he just looks up at the cabinet. I can't tell you what is in the cabinet above the refrigerator. Probably somethings I haven't used or seen in years. LOL

You can take the shelf out... in mine I put in some dividers and store all my cookie sheets, cupcake pans, and anything else that can be put in vertically, saves cabinets space in other areas.

those are all very wonderful answers but nowadays is a lot of people have the stove tops with glass you know the flat ones and if you drop anything on it it will break very easily it's already on the right the right answer would be the store nothing up there most likely just block it down stick a piece of art or something I don't know

  • Jason McAulay Jason McAulay on Dec 29, 2019

For the fifth time now those are all very good answers but a lot of people have the stoves with glass tops and you don't want to drop anything on them because they will break
