Repurposed Cottage Sign

I just finished this custom sign for a client. The colors are a perfect fit for their cottage lifestyle and the repurPosed window frame is so fun!
The family name is proudly displayed on the sign in Annie Sloan Aubusson Blue, as well as each member of the family who uses the cottage.
I began the process by cleaning off the old window, then measuring 4" boards to attach to the back. I stained each board with Annie Sloan dark wax after cutting and before screwing to the back of the window frame.
Next I added a light coat of white chalk paint, leaving some of the stained wood exposed at the ends, then went over the edges with a damp cloth to soften the brush strokes. I also lightly wiped the entire sign to give it a slightly weathered appearance.
The main lettering is is Aubusson Blue, but each line of names (representing a specific branch of the family) is painted in a different color, starting with Barcelona Orange on the top, then Santa Fe Turquoise and, finally, Traverse City Cherry.
The Chippy window used as a frame makes their new sign unique and fun. And very shabby chic, just perfect for a cottage! I finished the sign off with coats of outdoor polyurethane to protect it from the weather.

@Deezie I really appreciate that! And, believe me, I cannot hand letter like that either. That's why I need, need, need to use a stencil :)
