Elaine Simmons on Feb 26, 2015I think chartreuse would be lovely as long as you don't overdo it. What color are the walls? Gray would be beautiful with this.Helpful Reply

Cindy Fahr-Webster on Feb 26, 2015bolder colors look so very nice. get some paint sample pieces and bring them home and tape them to ur wall to see what color would make you smile. be sure to get like 4 samples of each color tho and also put them on all walls since light at different times look different. and also step back so u can see them and the carpet colors. :)Helpful Reply

Kelly MacGregor on Feb 26, 2015Pick a pale celery for the walls and put chartreuse accessories and accents - just a few - and lots of whites and creams and reflective surfaces in larger pieces (dressers, night stands, mirrors and/or mirrored surfaces). Your dark carpet will feel luxurious and trendy!Helpful Reply

Raelene on Feb 26, 2015The very best way to find out what colors you want is to get yourself a little inexpensive pocket color wheel. It will teach you color combinations that are balanced and harmonious. There are at least 9 different ways to combine colors. It is so easy to use and you will know exactly what appeals to you.Helpful Reply

Joann Jarvis on Feb 26, 2015Thanks for your replays. Like celery color walls but grey would be neutral and then I can accent with the bolder colors....I thinkHelpful Reply

Raelene on Feb 26, 2015Joann, let see if I can help. Burgundy is a deep red, most likely a red-violet or red orange. Take your color wheel to the carpet and find the closest match to that color. Opposite the color wheel will either be yellow-green, or blue-green, that is the compliment color. With your main arrow on your burgundy color, the other arrows or points will point to other colors that harmonize with burgandy. you will find a couple of triangles, a square, and and rectangle; putting one point in on your burgandy color the colors at the other points will look nice with burgandy; just look at one shape at a time. If you use 3 colors, remember the 60-30-10 rule. 60% of one color, 30% of the second color and 10% of the third color in a room. It isn't a hard rule, but it works. I hope this takes a little of the confusion out of the color wheel. Hint: celery is a yellow greenHelpful Reply

Raelene on Mar 02, 2015Joann, I am tickled pink! Another way to find color combinations is at the fabric store. Using your color wheel or a piece of carpet sample, just find your color of burgundy fabric with other colors in any pattern that speak to you. One time you might like one and another time a different one, depending on your mood. Get a sample each time. Then pool all your samples together and some colors will be predominately present in all your samples. Those will be the colors you want to live with! Hope you are having a lot of fun! I can hardly wait to see your finished project!Helpful Reply

Raelene on Mar 03, 2015Soundsbeautiful! The pinks and blues are colors that help to make up the burgundycolor, and the chartreuse is opposite the color wheel. Nice color combinations! I can see it now. It can have a bohemian feel using shabby chic styling. Just stick with what you really like and it will be cohesive. Everyone's taste tends to take them in one direction.Helpful Reply
