Cleaning up Rusty Furniture

Do you love finding vintage or industrial pieces for your home or office? Old furniture pieces always have a story to tell and give your space a sense of unique personality. One of the big hang ups is always making sure the piece is clean enough to bring into your home.
When I found this old filing system I knew it belonged in my home. I am a lover of all things industrial and vintage and this fit my style perfectly! The only problem was it was dirty. Very dirty. And there were also a few spots where rust was flaking off. I knew I wanted to bring this into my living room but didn't want to have rust flaking off all over my carpet, or kids!
I did quiet a bit of research into the best way to clean metal, coat it to protect rust from flaking off and then preserve it so that it wouldn't continue to rust away.
Head over to my post and find all of the details on how I cleaned up, and preserved this beautiful cabinet so that it would be safe to bring into my home!
