Small Kitchen Changes Make Big Impact

The 2 Seasons

The eating area in our kitchen is getting a little face-lift. I decided that the spot is looking a little too country. Don't get me wrong..... I love the country look, and grew up a country girl. However, it was a dated country look that need some tweaking and updating to look fresh.
The first thing I did was replace the former bench that had a storage area under it with this Windsor style bench. The other bench looked more like a toy chest and was really just too small for the space.
I looked for a Windsor bench on Craig's List and found this oak one. I went with this style to blend in with the existing chairs and bar stools. I decided to paint the bench Paris Grey. I also replaced the red rag rug you can see there in the photo.
The bar stools that sit at our kitchen peninsula are Paris grey, and I wanted to match them. Then after getting the new bench painted, I started second-guessing myself and thought maybe I should have painted it navy, like the old one, to make a bigger impact. However, I think I'll live with it for a few months, and if I decide to change the paint color, it will be an easy fix. To see more photos and get a kitchen tour, please visit our blog.
