Repairing and repainting and acrylic tub

We have an acrylic tub with jets and I would be interested in repairing a couple of chips in the bottom, replacing the hardware and repainting it. I know you can repaint enamel tubs and ceramic tile, but is there an effective process for acrylic?

is your warranty still in effect? We purchased an acrylic tub; and a shampoo bottle chipped the new tub and they covered it;but, the only repair was to resurface the tub by a specialist. Just the chips may not cost as much; as a whole resurface.

@Carolyn Thanks, Carolyn. No, the tub is too old for a warranty. I was just hoping to not have to spring for a new one. I see from your comment, though, that a resurfacing can be done.

you are not out anything by calling a tub resurface company;though probably cost as much as new tub to do; maybe they will just repair chips.
