How do I get this carpet up

This is how they put down the carpet in my basement. No pad. The brown is the glue. The area where my fat feet are is the carpet.

Oh my, they did the same thing in my house but on top of WOOD FLOORS, just pull it up best you can and use a paint scraper then sand, sand sand

try a heat gun or hair dryer to loosen then scrape

The heat gun is best to use just be very careful not to keep it in one spot for very long. Once the glue is hot it will come right up with a little scraping.

There are solvents for such a problem, go to your nearest carpet supply store and talk to them. Make sure you tell them it is a cement floor. You will be surprised how much easier it will be with the right tools.

You can rent a floor sander...save elbows and back for making the new finish pretty again! lol be sure to wear dust mask.
