Spring Redefined: Ornamental Wheat Grass 101

I've always loved mossy pots filled with tall grass. To me they practically scream "Spring!" You can find their plastic counterparts in many stores, especially around this time of year, but I prefer the real thing.
I was happy to learn that it's quite simple to grow your own ornamental wheat grass.
Just spread a layer of seeds on top of the soil, keep them moist, and watch them sprout. It's only a matter of days before they're sprouting tall blades of wheat grass.
My pots proved to be the perfect Spring pick-me-up, and they'd be just as perfect used as Easter décor. Can't you just see a line of small pots running down the center of the Easter table, each filled with tall, bright green wheat grass?

I have thought about doing this for my cat who loves wheat grass, and thought that planting an entire window ledge of them would look cool and be really practical. How long does it last, if you keep it trimmed?
