Dress up Your Old Plastic Easter Eggs With Paint

I love the look of speckled blue eggs, but they aren't that cheap, and there are only a few of them per bag. So, I got a little creative, and with a little bit of paint and a few of my kids' old plastic Easter eggs, I made my own blue and green speckled eggs!
Every year, we buy some of those plastic eggs from the Dollar Store or wherever, so there are always a a few extras around the house. And, since they are so inexpensive, I figured I could afford to buy more if my experiment didn't work. I tried using regular acrylic paint, but it didn't stick, so I picked up some Americana Chalky Paint at the craft store and tried that.
You can buy small bottles of the paint, so again, I figured I could afford to try this. Plus, I had a coupon. And if it didn't work out, I could just find something else to paint, which is never a problem around here! I enlisted some little helpers, and we went to work!
we gave the eggs two thin coats of paint, and then we added brown specks with regular acrylic craft paint. I used a storebought egg that was leftover from a wreath as a guide.
I stacked the eggs in two clear glass vases and tied some twine around the middle of each vase. I love how they turned out, and the project only cost a few dollars! You can find tips and more details on my blog. :)

They turned out great, thank you for the idea! Did the two coats of paint cover the seam? It isn't noticable in the final picture.
