Stenciling a Stairway

The stenciled stairs give the entryway a polished look. In about an hour, I was able to transform plain white stairs into something special!
The finished project...
A blank canvas...the perfect starting place for stencils.
I like to use more than just one color when stenciling. It gives the finished design a mottled look. I also like to use a little metallic paint, because it does a great job of picking up the light. I chose a taupe, midnight blue and a metallic gold.

I like to use frog tape to secure the stencil, a small brush, and cotton swabs to clean up any messy lines.
Use a small amount of paint to fill in the stencil. --My paint bush is nearly dry...but that works best when stenciling.
The results are fast and the dry time is short because of using so little paint.

Love what you have done I did this about 20 yrs. ago when I moved into my house. I thought it was fairly attractive, but you know as of today I don't think anyone has commented on it. Strange how people notice things. It does add a little interest to the risers.
