Love that it's all natural - but I can't use vinegar on my marble counters - any other vinegar free suggestions?

Eclectically Vintage - Kelly ~ I've been looking for a solution for that as well. I have granite in my bathroom and very hard water....the other day I made a paste with baking soda and water and used an old toothbrush but I was nervous the whole time. It did remove the scaling but I'm not sure if that is a recommended cleaner or not. If I come across anything that safely works, I'll let you know. : )

Christy P ~ I would recommend about 2 teaspoons to start and if you need to add more you can. You want it the consistency of a smooth paste.

I'm wondering if it can be used on a smooth cooktop.

Helen M You can try it on a small area in a corner or somewhere unseen just to be sure but my kitchen countertops are from the 1970's and it use this on them without a problem. It's very gentle. If you have marble or granite, I would not recommend it.

Brenda Underwood I am so sorry, but I don't know what 'the spiders of the stove' are? Once you tell me, I can try to let you know if it will work. : )

I use it on my smooth top stove and it works better than all of the expensive cleaners I have bought in the past.

Vinegar and baking soda make a corrosive like oven cleaner you just apply it differently than making a paste. Set in the sink Sprinkle the baking soda over the spider (I'd wet it first so the powder sticks) then pour the vinegar over it and it will start to bubble up. let set for a few minutes then add hot water and soap a little brushing and your done. Depending on how bad the surface is you may have to repeat the process more than once. This also works to unclog kichen sinks and freshen garbage disposals. It breaks up the grease.

To clean the stove top burners, I always use oven cleaner ( outside) Or you can use ammonia in a heavy duty black trash bag and put the burners in the bag and add ammonia approx. 1-2 cup or so. Tie end and point up so ammonia won't leak out. Then allow the bag to sit oudoors in the sun all day then open the bag VERY CAREFULLY because of the fumes and splattering. Then simply rinse well then wash indoors and enjoy your clean burners.

I put my "spiders" from my gas stove in my dishwasher when I run a load. Once you get them really clean, then do them once a week or so and they will never get caked up with grease again. If they have gotten really caked before, then you might have to soak them in the sink in some really hot water and dish soap, then scrape gently with an old knife to get the goo off. Then just keep them clean with the dish washer.

I make my own scrubbing cleaner using borax, Murphys oil soap and lemon juice. No set quantities just put the borax in a plastic bowl and Murphys a little a time to make a paste, then add a little lemon juice. I used it everything from a stove top, counters, floors and it works wonderfully.

that may work for you, but i would highly recommend not mixing your baking soda and vinegar. science says that that completely destroys the properties of both ingredients. baking soda + vinegar = water. i have used NOTHING but baking soda, vinegar, and the occasional lemon juice or tea tree oil to clean my house for over a year. i have learned that baking soda ought always to be used FIRST, to scrub and clean whatever gunk you're scrubbing. and THEN give it a good vinegar wipe down to get ...»
rid of any baking soda residue and also to disinfect (: i promise promise promise this is the way to go! if you want to use dish soap (unnecessary, honestly) mix just a dab of it with your baking soda, but do NOT add the vinegar. save it for afterwards. true story bro, coming at you from a mommy to a very messy 16 month old boy (:
