Edison Bulb Table Lamp

I have been wanting to make an Edison bulb lamp for a long time. I have seen some manufactured lamps on Pinterest, but knew I could make my own. I expected to make one from scratch using random wood bits and pieces...but then I found the perfect specimen at a thrift store for $1 cha-ching!!!
After changing up the color and adding a few details, here is the beautiful "after"
Here is the dreaded before shot. It's just your run of the mill brass touch lamp. When I bought it, I didn't even know if it worked (or that it was a touch lamp) However, if it did work, the $1 price couldn't be beat. You can't even buy the parts to make a lamp for under $12-15.
The first step was to clean it up a little, then I cut the harp near the top, and used a giant vice to secure the small piece of the harp, and worked the lamp back and forth until the harp broke loose from the lamp.

Up next? some Heirloom Traditions Chalk Type Paint in Black Bean. You can see I used painter's tape in the socket and on the cord.
This is how it was initially staged on my dresser turned media center.

Gail I just had to show u this lamp I found today for seven bucks! It's going to be my piano light! I'm thinking of using another Edison bulb! Either way it's getting coated with black bean chalk paint! If you have any suggestions for the bulb please let me know! I don't think a lamp shade will work because of the second position it can go in! Either way we love it! It was a good find! Thank you for your inspiration!

Gail I used the flash so u could see the texture! Like I said I'm not a pro painter! Excuse the ugly gold frame on that pic! It's getting painted!

That's just about right about if something doesn't move it will be painted! We just bought a 1956 Wurlitzer console piano and I've been wanting to paint that but the hubs is not on board with that! I think the lamp turned out pretty good even with the "texture" thanks again for sharing your ideas!
