You can find fabric glue at any fabric store or craft store. I used fabric glue to add ribbon with dangling beads to 3 lampshades last year and they're still holding strong. Have several clothespins or some type of clips to keep the ribbon in place while it sets. Remove them before the glue completely dries to avoid crimped spots on your ribbon.

Like Judy, I use a fabric glue, either Fabri-tac or Fabric Fusion, whichever comes to hand. I have several books about lampshade making and follow a professional creator of lampshades (I'm sure there's a word for that!) on Facebook and that's what both the books and the lampshade lady say.

Fusible  fabric tape is what i used. You iron it onto the ribbon, then onto the shade.

Oh, yes. I remember when I moved into the first home my husband and I bought, I decided to do something with the hideous metal, faux wood-grain light fixture over the dining table. I made mosaic tiles in pretty shades from Sculpey, and hot-glued them to the shade. It looked great!! Then, we sat down for our first meal with our new and improved shade. I had forgotten about it while eating, until, suddenly, I heard the sound of something hitting the china. It was a tile from the light fixture! The tiles all proceeded to come loose and start falling into our food. So, hot glue + light fixture = melting glue, depending upon the materials and the wattage, no doubt.

I just added ribbon to a shade. I used Aleene's clear gel tacky glue. I purchased it at Hobby Lobby. The glue worked perfectly.

clear adhesive caulk, it works just like hot glue with out the hot part, you have time to adjust it and it dries clear. and yes E6000 works on everything too. I like the adhesive.
