Foundation cracks behind insulation=bug issues

I have a finished basement room and in it is a cabinet that exists for acess to water pipes for exterior faucet. The issue is obviously there are foundation cement cracks that if this was summer I could go about this issue from outside in, how it properly should be done. Until then however I need to know if I can safely ghetto rig something up to seal out the gaps, while working from the cramped space given, and mostly prevent the bug infestation from increasing? I could live with drafts but the bugs are getting worse. I have rigid foam board to repel bugs but flammable issues, obviously if it is temporary may not be key. Every type of "great stuff" there is.

  • Bugs will tunnel through Great Stuff & rigid foam if they get the slightest whiff of food or water - you can buy some with borates or something similar but I would suggest cleaning out dust & spraying the areas in question with a long lasting bug spray / repellant - then use an elastermatic caulk to fill in any gaps. Finally make sure you eliminate any reason for the bugs would want to come in

I wasn't sure if you could provide another questionnon foundation repairs. I used quickcrete hydrolic cement in summer when I was able to excavate and repair the whole crack. I couldn't find a definite answer on applying a sealant afterwards or not. Worries of trapping radon in and other gases so not applying a seal was a safer bargain until I found a definite yes or no to it
  • A sealer is meant to keep water out which should not be an issue in this area - if outside you should tie into or coat over any existing repairs, making sure the ground slopes away from the house As for spray, you maybe able to cover it with drywall & fiberglass batts for the concrete areas
