Awesome Kitchen Transformation for Under $1000!

We had a sad, builder-grade kitchen that was functional, but ugly. For about $800, I transformed our kitchen into something great! I give you all of the tutorials and tips to do it to your kitchen as well!
As you can see, the cabinets were an orange, honey oak, and very plain, white laminate countertops and an ugly almond range hood. This kitchen does not scream, "LOVE."
Laminate countertops replaced with warm, beautiful wood countertops for $125! I show you how to do it for your kitchen!
Awesome open concept shelving was added once I took a bay of cabinets down. Only $20 each!
Gorgeous Subway Tile backsplash that cost about $45! I tell you how to do that too!
Where's the almond range hood? Behind that built in hood that was only $20 to make! Want one? I give you a nice tutorial on how to build your own.
All of "The" kitchens have a trash drawer. I made mine from my existing cabinet for free!!! You can too with my tutorial!
This was an amazing transformation that i did completely myself and for around $800! If you want more pictures and tutorials of all of my projects, please click over to my blog! Subscribe to On Bliss Street to be notified of my Cheap-o Room Challenge! I would love for you to be a part of it!

@OnBlissStreet wow, amazing transformation! I think you have successfully brought this kitchen into the 21st century. Love the white cupboards and the stainless steel makes them pop. I was curious as to what you did to the counter tops, they look amazing. Went to your blog but could only find the price for them. Did you replace them or paint them, looks like they were replaced. Thanks for posting very inspiring.

This is amazing! The layout is identical to my ugly 80s kitchen, so it provided lots of inspiration.

OMG what a beautiful kitchen. I cant imagine how much you must be in heaven with it! You did a great job. I would love to do my cupboards but Im a bit scared to do it and all by myself (I know I wouldn't get any help here LOL). You should be proud of yourself....Iam :)

@Josephine Howland Did you ever think about trying open shelving? Or even trying Habitat ReStore to see if you can get some discounted cabinets? You can get them for a steal there!

Wow, so amazing and so updated! Like Gail said.. welcome to the 21st century! Not usually a fan of open shelving in the kitchen, but yours are substantial and looks great!

I have wanted to replace my counter tops for ten years but until I saw this, I had not seen a thing that excited me. I have never considered painting my perfectly good cabinets but this makes me more inclined. Absolutely gorgeous redo.
