Crimson clover is being used as a green fertilizer for an organic garden. When is the best time to plant?

What month is it tilled back into the soil?

I like to turn my soil over right before it starts frosting and again after the first full thaw.

These don't answer my question because I need to know the best date to plant, then the best date to till the clover into the soil.

Don't know about tilling, but the USDA recommends planting between Sept. 15 and Nov. 1 (ie, now) in your area.

Steve is correct....and you can till it in early April, two weeks before you start planting your summer garden.

I sow clover in mid- October after I clean up the garden for the winter. The clover comes up fairly quickly. I can till it in the bed in March so the garden will be ready for planting late March or early April.
