DIY Tic-tac-toe Wooden Stool

Every month, I team up with a group of amazing bloggers to deliver the Monthly Home Depot Gift Challenge. One of the members of the group picks an item from Home Depot and an intended recipient--it's up to us to come up with an awesome gift! This month's item was a wooden dowel, and the recipient was a child. I decided to make a practical yet fun present: a wooden stool that doubles as a tic-tac-toe table! I'm in love with it.

Now, for this project you’ll need:

1 wooden dowel (from Home Depot)

Saw

1 wooden clock round (from Michael’s)

White paint

Blue Paint (or whichever color you choose)

Painter’s tape

10 rocks

Screws/nails to attach

First, I measured out where I wanted the lines to go for the board. I used painter's tape to make the crisp and straight.

When that was dry, I painted the edge of the round blue--I think this adds so much to it! Little pops of color are my favorite.

Then I had my trustee assistant, and boyfriend, cut the dowel into even pieces. I originally had him cut the dowel into 12" pieces, but in the end I decided I only wanted three legs. So I used three 12" legs.

I then painted the ends of them blue--more pops of color!

While everything was drying, I painted the stones. I painted five blue with white polka dots and five white with blue polka dots (there are only four of each pictured).

You're practically done! All that's left to do is attach the legs. If you're just using it as a game table, sturdy glue is fine. But if you're doubling it as a stool, then you'll want to screw in the legs.
