Chalk painted concrete garden pot - what do I seal it with?

I have a large round concrete garden planter which I have painted in ASCP Duck Egg. Do I need to seal the paint before using it to plant up my tulip bulbs. I will be using a spray pot sealer for the inside of the pot to prevent water seepage through the concrete onto the paint but what about the outside of the pot to seal the chalk paint?

I've been using ASCP for awhile now for ALL indoor projects and lately (especially with furniture that is used often) I have found sealing it w/a polyurethane (satin finish) or you could go glossy if you want...your choice. But you really can't seal something outside w/AS wax and I find it SO MUCH EASIER with the polyurethane and I KNOW it's sealed and don't have to worry about water marks...that's what you might have to worry about when watering the plants...will it make spots on the outside of the pot...just darker colors than the drier areas. Some ideas for you...hope I helped you out and didn't confuse you...I tend to run on and run, lol :) Good luck and an update would be fun !

I bought a spray on pot sealer that stops the water from soaking through the porous pot when you water it. I decided to try spraying the outside of the pot (over the chalk paint) with it to see if it will protect it from the weather. So inside is sprayed/sealed, outside it chalk painted and then spray/sealed with the same product. Will let you know how it holds up!

Please do...I love doing my own pots for the porch...especially monogrammed with flowers on the pots !! I just do herbs and a few plants for the humming birds and butterflies and with clay pots (which are SO CHEAP) you have so many options with painting. Good luck and keep in touch :)
