What kind of tree is this?

I have one of these little trees on my apartment porch that the previous tenants left behind. I want to know how to care for it, but I don't know what it is. I'm sure you guys do, though! Any ideas?

It looks like a succulent. Perhaps a bigger container, water and good soil. Partial sun.

yes, succulent for sure. Not sure of the name. Transplant into large container and then plant a small succulent in the lovely snail container for another gorgeous plant!

I would guess a rubber tree plant.

I also think it's a form of Jade plant. They need little water, and seem to enjoy being crowded in a small pot.

It is a succulent. Jade plant is a type of succulent. It needs good drainage and not too much watering. I would put it into a pot with good drainage and use a cacti potting mix. They are also known as money trees I think and are supposed to be lucky for your finances.

Go to www.plantcaretoday.com It does not look like a jade plant at all. The leaves appear too small.

It's very cute! I'm sure you know it's a succulent by now and I'm not expert. If I like it then I'm happy. Hope u find its name. One thing I can tell just by being an avid gardener with green thumb is that I believe it will root very easily. Just ouch a piece and plant bc it's so cute u could have more or share with friends like I do. I also pinch this type from friends and have my own that I know who it's from. I think I had your little plant bf and got it the same way. That's how u know its hardy since it survived without being over cared for. Good luck, if I remember the name I'll post it

So sorry, your question was care tips. You should be fine. Little care. Most people that kill plants try too hard. Good soil for succulent specific if u repot or root it. Note the months you have had it and it's location so you will know if the weather changes and it looks sad that the temperature is not right and may have to bring it in during that season.

Definitely some kind of succulent, it will freeze in New Jersey if left too exposed. Succulents are like cactus, need good drainage, not too much water, and good sun.

@Shirley Midgett It's in a sunny spot so I hope it does well there. Thank you for the tips!!

I didn't read all the answers but, just wanted to say, don't let dogs or cats eat the leaves.

@Carole Brannan Thanks for the tip! Sadly, I don't have any pets so this won't be an issue.

It's a trumpet jade, very easy to grow.
  • Pam Pam on Aug 13, 2015
I know it as a jelly bean plant, looks like it has lost it's lower leaves. It is a succulent so spare watering is in order.
    • Tikva Morrow Tikva Morrow on Aug 13, 2015
@Pam Thanks so much for the helpful input! I'll keep the watering to a minimum.
