Knock Out Navy Coffee Table

I found a big square coffee table on Craigslist back when we first moved into our house. I had a topper made at a local sheet metal joint to bring in some metallic and I've loved it. I always intended to paint the base, but it slipped my mind. Until recently when I was given the chance to test drive a lacquer spray paint. WHY DID I WAIT SO LONG? The spray paint was the PERFECT navy blue to bring the coffee table completely into step with the rest of the decor in our family room!

Finished... I loooooove it. This blue is perfection.

Here's the coffee table waiting for its metallic cover up... fine, but the wood didn't work with our floor and decor.

This sheet metal topper took about 15 minutes for Joe to make. The edges are tucked under, but I still place corner protectors when one of the kids is learning to walk just to be safe!

The green was fine... but not so much in this space.

Oh. Em. Navy blue Gee. A few hours after spray painting and this table is back in the space. The navy makes the topper shine that much more and it obviously ties into the room 100% better.

A detail of the new an improved blue gams.

Can you explain how to fold the metal corners? I'm doing something similar and I can't figure how to get them to lay down. You could help me out a bunch.

What was the brand and color of the spray paint that you used?

I read over this, but didn't see the answer. Were there special tool you guys had to use to get the sheet metal to bend over the sides of the table, or did the sheet metal place do it for you? The corners interest me too in how you got those crimped so nicely. Did you use tin-snips? I love your solution for your table top and I have a square on that could use this idea. Thanks for sharing .

Hi Kathy! My local HVAC guy did everything, so... no tools were involved. He had the sheet metal and the tools to form the topper! I didn't bother gluing it in order to preserve the table, but you certainly could!
