My mother was tossing out this vintage cabinet island when my father rebuilt her whole new kitchen.
I snagged it up to make it old French Country for my kitchen!

My brother made the plank top and I kept it as it was. It had the rustic warmth and charm that I wanted.

The base needed some sanding and some fresh paint.

It needed something on the doors, so using these Fleur de lis wood appliques was the perfect choice.

I was lucky to get the same French style hardware to go with the rest of the iron accents of the kitchen.

Wanting cornices but space was very limited, I scored these carved looking knobs in clearance. One was a bit small, so I doubled them up.

Oh my! This is wonderful. I want to find an old dresser to build an island for my daughters new Town Home. She has one of those wider than deep kitchens where it would be a great addition. The drawers in a dresser would be wonderful to have! I will
