I am looking to make a border around the flower beds around our pool, I don't want to spend an arm and a leg, have used wood around it before, but it always ends up looking worn by end of summer. Any ideas, I have included a picture of the area. This area doesn't have the plants around it anymore, thanks to our little four legged son. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Buy some stone from your local nursery and lay around it. Large pebble stones which can be about a foot round would look sharp. Menards, Lowes, or Home Depot have these border lock together concrete borders too in all colors.

Gina, looks like a beautiful area and does need some flowers but I'm not quite sure what the area is that your talking about ? Explain a little more detail please. Is it just along the sides of the two buildings ? If so how wind of a planting area is there? Is it at the far end by the fence? Are those flowerbeds by the buildings do they get sun, shade ? The whole area?

The stone in the back ground, use the stone only in a smaller version.

I'm slowing planting dwarf liriope around our pool. I shied away from stones/rocks because we have a vinyl liner....1 rock in the bottom and that's all it needs for a tear. I want uncluttered and worry free and figured the liriope would work for us. Good luck with your project......

Planting something like jasmine near that back wall will give more impact.I would put a wide low border fence in front of the plants to prevent your dog from "spraying" them.Q

Would like to see what you come up with, if enough room I would use the stone border. There are connecting ones to fit right in and go around so they don't stick out for people to trip on or cut there feet. They have that rock look like on your fall wall. Could get hot for plants right next to the hot siding of the house and the decking, but what you have, seems to grow ok ? If enough room after the border put low growing colored plants or just small rocks for filler. That is always a clean look and no maintenance. I myself like small garden animals but that is just me... Cute little animals. Cacti in different pots always looks good.
