Organizing wardrobe

Question

My wardrobe is too small for me, so I stack up all my clothes in piles. I end up not knowing or forgetting what is below. Please help.

I'd move the wire bins and small drawers out of the closet and put them in a bureau or under-the-bed bins. Then put another rack in the closet, below the high one, in order to have more rack space.

I do not know if you rent or own your home and I do not know if you have a top shelf in this wardrobe store your mesh baskets on it.how big your bedroom is.  I would check thirst stores, yard sales and Craig's list for the largest dresser I could find that I could put in your bedroom and another wardrobe to match the one you have.  If that is not possible, I would tack long shoe holders(the kind with lockers on each door for underwear etc. or store that stuff in the bathroom.  Maybe a storage bench/cedar chest at the foot of your bed to store summer/winter clothes, which ever you are not currently wearing.i also like the idea of a second rod in the bottom.  It would also help to organize your tops by color, this lets you see what you have and I'd you have 10 white tops, consider getting rid of 5.  If you can get a big dresser, again sort by color and style or sleeve length.  You can also get command hooks for scarves and handbags if you don't get shoe holders.  I keep my underwear in my bathroom so it is handy when I get out of the shower.  Again a pocketed shoe holder over and behind the door could keep you undies handy.  I also store my pj's in the bathroom.  If you can't find a dresser try for an armour as you can hang clothes on top and use the drawers for folded clothes.  But again sort according to color so you can see how much of each color you have.  Good luck and let us know what you do.

Another possible solution would be to 'file' the clothes you have.  Instead of laying one on top of another, turn them 'upright' like files in a filing cabinet.  That way you can see what you have AND it's easy to get to!   You could also do this in your dresser drawers...who knows?  You might have some extra room there, too.

Put out of season items in space bags and store elsewhere (under the bed, etc.). And purge!

i would sell what does not fit you, on ebay,,, or donate to a local charity,,, and replace with a manageable amount of clothing that does fit you...

Door pockets; also above the doors on the inside of the closet is a great space to store on hooks; or slide down bars. Rolling cloths uses less space and keeps them from wrinkles. Don't forget the space under the bed. Their is always a four inch space that you can put a shelf with a bar and four sets of rollers on the bottom; stores,( shoes; purses; belts; jewelry; and undergarments... Look at every square inch of your room and the more you can put behind a door; cloth; or blend into the wall; same colors works great. You can take a piano hinge and make four inch shelves with six sets of wheels; that run from floor to celling with the outward facing side covered with fabric or painted the same color as the wall. When you open these you have a huge amount of storage; when closed it is a plan wall. Your only sacrifice is maybe four or five inches of lost floor space. and the length of a wall.
