First, how did you come to own it? That's a good place to begin. How are the drawers put together? Were dovetail joints used, or some other way of holding them together? Are there any stamped markings anywhere on the piece? This is where you have to take out all the drawers, turn it around to see the back, look underneath. Be ultra curious. If the mirror is removable, take it out (carefully). Many, many times mirrors had their made/cut date stamped or written on the back of the silvering. That will give you some clue as to the age of the piece. Because it is such a large, oval, beveled mirror, chances are it is the original one. If not, someone spent a bunch of money having it replaced. Even so, in order to save some money on replacement, many people would not have spent the added money to put another beveled mirror back. Even a replacement mirror could have a date on it. The legs on the front are Queen Anne and the wood looks like it could be cherry or mahogany. The shallow top center drawer looks like there is a rosette-type wooden pull in order to open it. The remaining hardware seems to be brass. Can't tell if it's polished or not. Most likely it is cast metal of some sort. Without more detailed photos this is all I can offer. As to the age, it could fit into several eras. More homework is necessary.

the legs are Queen Anne style. I'm guessing 1920's to 1930's but could be wrong. Start by 'googling' Queen Anne antique buffet.

Thank you both for your responses. The drawers are dovetail and there are no markings anywhere. It needs refurbishing but I want to sell it and have no idea what to ask for it.

Have an appraisal done by someone who sells antiques or does restorations. You have a good community for this in and around Norman. I agree 1920's Art Deco that just needs the appropriate care.

Did a lot of searching when I was looking for a china cabinet on eBay. In the good shape yours is in you can get $400-500 dollars for it. You could send pictures to Antiques Road Show and see if they can help you.

This is the best help I can give you .......... I'll take it! Seriously ......... it is a gorgeous piece of furniture. I would say from the twenties or thirties.

Stylistically this looks like a high victorian reproduction to me... Q.A. legs, classic roof line... must say I do not see a hint of art deco, but what do I know???

I think it's an Edwardian mahagony art deco buffet cabinet with tear drop pulls produce in around 1930s. I think from the style, it's English rather than French.

You would be able to get more than 4-5 hundred for this. Have some appraisers come and look at it. Now take their price if they also sell, and add about 500.00 to it. That is what they would do if they bought it off of you and then resold it. Definitely get it appraised. Take a picture of it, and any other antiques, put them in your safe for insurance purposes.
