Painted Stairs...Why Not?

I had some plain 'ol ugly looking stairs coming into my studio, and as I was sipping my tea one morning I thought I should add some panache to these stairs.
Snore Bore....Boring stairs coming into my crazy beautiful studio....why not create something fun...I'm going to try chalk painting them!

I chalk painted them with van Gogh Fossil Paint in Revenge Black and Chalk White! I wanted a bold yet classic type feel to them!
I then free hand drew, in different fonts, the little sayings ~~Why Not Sing, Sip Some Wine And Create Beautiful Things~~ RIGHT?? It is so inviting now and everyone that comes in comments on them! I wish I had more stairs to paint.
On the back wall of the step I used various stencils to make the little element designs. So sweet. I sealed them with a clear coat.
I painted these stairs back in 2015 and they are still holding up strong, and in an area with constant use!
Happy Jig!!

Did you find that you had to cover the riser or could it have been left open? Or did you remove it to paint?

How did that stairway go from two steps and the platform to three steps and then the platform??
