How to Plant Wheat Grass for Spring Decor

Wheat grass is super easy to grow, grows fast, and does amazing in indoor pots. I love adding it to my spring decor, the pop of green in March is so reviving after the bleakness of winter. You can have a good stand of wheat grass in 10 days.
Potting soil in any container you have around that you would like to have some grass growing in. Sprinkle the wheat grass seeds - you can spread them much thicker than this if you prefer. A bit of soil on top,but just a gentle sprinkling. You should still see some seeds. Water with a spray bottle and spray liberally three times a day until you see sprouts starting, then water as needed.

Wheat grass seeds can be purchased at a health food store or from a farmer in your area!
I wanted some wheat grass in my small hanging basket so I got a bit creative and made it happen.

A ziplock bag tucked into the basket created the perfect base to add some potting soil, water, and seeds.
When the wheat grass gets tall enough to start flopping over I tie it up with some baker's twine.

We also cut it and add it to our fruit smoothies - it's a great healthy addition!

Don't be afraid to 'mow' it with your scissors and sprinkle on salads. It's very healthful. I even feed it to my canaries! They LOVE it.
