Tired wood and metal chairs

Lightfeather
by Lightfeather
Reaching out for ideas to transform 4 chairs. Really don't want to trash them, HELP! I have 4 wood and heavy metal chairs needing some creative ideas. While I could do the usual repaint sand and place cushions that just won't do. HELP...
Old and boring needing a face lift.

    I would stencil them

TY Moxie, stencil sounds interesting, I think I'd either have to epoxy fill in where the wood is chipped or sand them first.

    I would mod decoupage them

TY Jackie for your idea, I've heard of this technic I've just never done it or would even know how to.

@Lightfeather these are great chairs, I definitely wouldn't trash them. Have you considered the brown paper bag treatment (I used postal paper from Walmart). If you check out @Ashley @ Domestic Imperfection posts you will find one for brown paper bags - I did this technique on a bookshelf and a living room table. It looks really unique - like old leather. You can actually use a wood stain in different colours as they have red, blue, green etc. these days. I used a reddish wood stain on mine. The project is just so easy you won't believe it. I finished with a few coats of polyurethane. Do let us know what you do and post pics please :) Thanks for posting.

TY again Gail, I have a sunroom that would be much smaller then the room is like to do with paper. I'll make sure to post a before as well as steps along the way.

I would paint or stencil a design and then go ahead and get 2 inch foam and cut a cushion and upholster the seat.

I would paint the back and maybe stencil them but I would cover the seat part with fabric and padding

LOVE the cobalt blue but depends on your colour scheme. I'd sand the seats and put poly on them. Perhaps you could get some tie-on seat cushions including white and cobalt In an abstract floral or stripe.
