I used to sell flooring. The two largest manufacturers of vinyl flooring used to say that you could lay down layers of pure white paper towels on the floor. Then pour pure bleach on the paper towels. Allow to sit on the floor periodically checking it to see when the yellow was gone (typically no longer than 20 minutes). Rinse thoroughly with plain water. Then wash the floor. Use care for a while as the bleach may soften the vinyl for a time. If you are questioning if it will take color from the flooring try it in an inconspicuous spot first. I personally used this on a customer's floor that was white with hunter green diamonds years ago and IT WORKS without taking the color from the floor. I bleached over both the green and the white.

You may also want to try a solution of baking soda and water. Maybe even sprinkle the baking soda on the floor and with a wet/damp sponge scrub the area. It means a little 'elbow grease', but it could work. I have used baking soda on my old aluminum/steel kitchen sink and it brought it back up to looking shiny and new again. Upside: no harsh chemical smell. Downside: scrubbing. Good Luck.

@Kris Sorry. I thought that it would since it does the trick on stainless steel and porcelain sinks. Brings them up sparkling clean and looking like new.

My vinyl flooring yellowed - just from age. Won't ever buy it again. Hope the solutions works as yours in a definite stain.
