The salesperson told me that I should never operate a microwave without something inside of it, as it would burn out the magneto in just a few minutes. Has anyone ever heard of this?
Yes James, I've always heard this. I've even heard it recommended that you keep a cup of water in the microwave in case it gets accidentally turned on ~ for busy break rooms or homes with "little fingers" that can reach buttons. (I had some of these "little fingers" for a few years!)
To Yamini and Bernice. Could be ran empty through forgetfulness, I was going to test it to see if it worked at all when newly installed. Also, have used it as a timer for other things, and also to completely dry inside when cleaned before actually puting food in it. Thanx everyone for responses, I certainly willl be more careful.
My 11 year old confessed to trying to dry his watch out in the micro ~ I now know why the micro no longer works AND why there were black sunbursts inside it AND why I never saw the watch again!
You could "snopes" this!
