In my kitchen I have 2 ft black granite dado which I want to change to a light color. I have no idea of options? Please suggest something without breaking/removing the granite. Thanks.

I am sorry, I would not do anything to granite. If it is just 2 feet, replace it. Black goes with everything

Handling natural stones on work suffices requires special tools and skills due to the fissures and fractures inherently in them. Call a granite company and let them have at it. Prices have come down greatly. It shouldn't cost much at all.

I've seen people do lots of things to counter tops. cover them with concrete, tile, faux paint them to look like marble, even blackboard paint to create a soapstone effect. There are even counter top transformation kits out there. But it depends on what you're needing, what colors are around this black slab? What does it need to work with? And what/where is this "dado".

It would help to see a pic of the area and know what we are actually dealing with as far as your surrounding areas.
