Need suggestions for cleaning Vinyl "memory" windows, please! :)

My mom has vinyl windows (those that have 'memory') on her porch. They have not been cleaned for years!! I did try cleaning one yesterday (the one on the right that has the hanging flower art in front of it) ... but the streaks that are on it (from what I have no idea) will not come off. I would just love to get these clean like glass again! Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Thanks in advance!

Hi Jan. Do you mean plexiglass for windows? Or do you mean the window framing is vinyl? I'm having a hard time figuring out what I'm looking at. Can't really see any streaking but I can see the screen beyond, lol. My home is 3 !/2 stories tall. The windows on my upper floors don't get washed as often as I would like. When they do get washed I sometimes have to use a product called "MEAN GREEN" to cut the first layer. You spray, then let it work for a minute (lay newspaper to catch dirty run-off on the sill), then wipe. you'll have to use a glass cleaner after the Mean Green, as it doesn't leave a shine. You can find it at places like Dollar Stores or Walmart.

@Sheryl Johnson Thanks. These windows actually "give" when you press on them and then returns to it's original state... it was a safety sort of window my mom purchased... so if the kids ran into it on the deck, they wouldn't be hurt. So the window itself is a soft sort of vinyl. I don't mind trying the Mean Green .... might be able to pick up soon! Thanks

Hello Jan, I would try dawn dish soap and water and a micro fiber cloth, if that doesn't work try vinager and water. Hope this is helpful.

plexiglass can get "foggy" with age. I recommend Googling "how to clean weathered plexiglass". They have wonderful ideas, good luck!

I found a guy who had vinyl windows in his Jeep that cleaned right up using Pledge! Alas, not mine. Keeping on, though!

Sounds like you have very hard water( add a softner to it) and that is causing the streaks. Get the window cleaner that come in a thing attach to hose made by windex. Maybe that would help. Or look and see if can find who made and call them or email them. I've never heard of this stuff before..

@Wanda.ll ... we actually don't have hard water. The streaks are on the outside of the windows... and were their before cleaning.... 'nature made" lol I am trying to find mom's old paperwork ... to find out more about these windows. Thank you!

No those are memory vinyl windows, A cap full of woolite and gallon of water or you need to go to a dealer that sells Sunspace or Custom windows to get the cleaner that actually conditions the window (not the frame but the vinyl window) to keep them pliable.
