Can anyone make any suggestions on how I can fix the edging of my desk?

It started to peel but the rest of the desk is in good shape. It doesn't have to match but some kind of trim that has an adhesive backing would be good.

There are an assortment of flat trims you could use and then just stain. If you want fancier, run the trim right around the desk and stain a darker colour.

@Marsha Heitner the trim as suggested by @Marion Nesbitt is a great idea. You could also fill with wood filler and repaint. Or for a whole new look you could add a plank of old wood, like barn board or old fencing boards saved for this type of project. Sand and either stain or paint (I use old fence boards for all sorts of projects). This would add weight to the piece though, so you need to think of that too! Do update us with a pic of what you do.

You are able to buy rolls of venier to finish off the raw edge of a cupboard door etc.

If you don't mind painting the desk or staining it with a dark stain, simply fill the holes with wood filler, sand smooth, and then stain/paint.

Check your lumber yard for a roll of veneer edging. It's not difficult to install. Unless you can't locate where you left your steam iron when you used it last. That's about the most difficult step I've come across. Actually I have to go out to the wood shop to get mine if I would ever iron.

All these suggestions are good but does anyone know where I can buy a "small amount" of flat trims or veneer?

It looks like Formica. If it is, just remove the old trim. Get the iron on edge trim in the cabinet section. And your good to go.

Use contact paper even if it is a different color or design it will brighten up your desk and you just cut it and peel the back and apply it.

Home Depot carries a trim edge for just this purpose and you "iron" it on. Yes, Iron. It can be stained or painted.
