Female dogs do this. There is a pill available for them.

@Beatrice Tangeman I think it neutralizes their urine. I don't have females so haven't tried it. Give your vet a call and see if it is recommended or not. You would have to follow them around with a hose to use Em's suggestion. I would medicate or treat the grass with some base product.

@Jill Drake it happens due to the acid in the urine. You can spread some bone meal or another basic product to correct the problem.

I would NEVER make an animal take a medication to have a green lawn. Wow how sad that grass is more important than your pet!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You can flush the yard with a hose after they pee and male dogs urine can burn the yard as well. You can also buy a cheap bag of grass seed and throw on the spots and put a bit of potting soil on top. the new grass will sprout up in no time.

Hi Em, I'm same as you, I wouldn't give my dogs medication either, was just a question I put out there hoping that there was some form of say, sand, or quick fast growing anything......have a age mail Staff, and a Male German Sherpard, trust me, he pees in one place, not a bit here, a bit there, and he pees like an elephant lol......but seriously, grateful for all replies, it's just when hubby cuts the lawn, it's rotten brown spots, however, looks lush when it's a bit overgrown.......we all have our own opinions to share, that what's this HomeTalk is about.......so thanks to all of you, it will just have to stay as it is, and put down grass seeds and see if they pee on that too lol

I spread some lime on areas where urine my dog has urinated which makes him go somewhere else, like usually the woods or a bush, etc.
