Powder room decor

by Kyla Schultz
I have been trying to finish up a powder room in our house. I have purchased the art and a blind (pictures attached). I am looking for some type of wall décor for above my toilet that will complement this. I am hoping to stay with a soothing grey/cream color scheme with a rustic luxury look. Please offer any ideas.

Hello! Do you have storage for medicine or extra bathroom supplies? I would add rustic wood floating shelves with baskets to store medicine and display face towels and other items. I hope that helps! :) visit my website for more decor tips: www.byamadesigns.com

We do have plenty of storage in there. We have a 36" vanity with two drawers and a cabinet that are virtually empty.

Here is a picture of the vanity mirror area. The toilet is just to the left of the sink.
  • ..The prints are lovely. May I ask what color are the walls ? I see you have some wall space next to the sink area, is this where the prints are hung ? I do agree with a wall shelf, for interest., maybe under where the prints are, if theres space available...; ..but maybe not really rustic. ..but whatever suits your taste . the space involved.; would be useful for pretty candles, etc.

The walls are BM Elmira White. The pictures are across from the sink on a long wall. I am looking for something to hang on the wall next to the mirror which is above the toilet.

@Kyla Schultz not sure how much room you have to play with, but I have always liked metal art work - can paint it any colour you want. You can add the luxury you are looking for with paint colour and the metal will be a little rustic. I find homesense is a good place to shop for accessories. It may take me a couple of years to finish a room, but always get things on sale.

Add a shelf with coat hooks under to hang some towels from. That can add a pop of color to your room. You can add some candles on the shelf below the pictures as well.

I had thought about ordering these sconces but wasn't sure about the metal as I am not sure how I feel about mixing metals.

Put some floating shelves for extra towels & toilet paper.

Go to google images and type the words "glass wall vase". They hang on the wall and you can put in your favorite flowers or branches.
  • I would break up the prints and put one above the commode. I did it in my guest bath and LOVE the results. Less is often more.

    • @Kyla Schultz ...I like the prints together....I feel it makes them more ' important' in the room, but to each his/ her own. :) The wall sconces are nice, does the style of them tie into the other elements in the room ? I also like the idea of something " glass' to offer some shine and sparkle to the room...whether its a glass shelf ( or two ) for ' pretties' and baskets for storage, or glass candle sconces....some sparkle would definitely add a bit more dimension . :)
  • These are quick pics - The room is 8x12. Now that I'm looking at them, they need to be swapped for larger pieces - lol! But I still like them split up. I'm sure your room is beautiful and as long as YOU love it - that's all that matters :)
