Can anyone recommend a way to clean hardwood floors that are smelly? I can't for the life of me think of why this spot smells so bad

Is it from a pet accident? Sometimes the only way to remove it is to sand the area down and refinish.

@JodiJeanne Fortunately no. It's a mystery as of right now. We have a crawl space below and we are wondering if something died below even though the smell is concentrated in one spot

Sprinkle cinnamon on the floor and leave it for a few days. You may have to replace the spice several times.

I use natures miracle products. Advanced formula most likely what you need. Very safe and effective. Bio-enzymatic, takes a few days, but works well.

Maybe clean really well with bleach, or other strong cleaning fluid, reseal, and hope that it keeps the smell below your floor, in the crawl space. Good luck.

Vinigar is always a good way to neutralise smells

Odor off seems to work well for pet accidents. I expect it would work for any smell. Let it soak in.
