  • Outlet almost catches home on fire......

Outlet almost catches house on fire.

This outlet had been installed with a quick connect (back stab) method that leaves connections loose over time. If the homeowners had not been home they may have lost everything. Annual inspections are so important for aging electrical systems, but most people never have them.......

Are jucuzzi tubs plugged in somewhere?

So, we've been in our house for almost a year and half and finally decided to use the jacuzzi tub. We filled the tub, pushed the button, and nothing. No sound, no bubbles...nothing. We don't see any plugs or switches or panel doors anywhere to turn it on. I read something online about a GFCI being tripped, but where would I find that to check it?

most of the time these days there is a "faceless" GFCI (GFCI without plug holes) hidden behind ...»
the water closet door up high that can be tripped. If not it controlled by a GFCI breaker in the panel or in a small access under the tub. Good Luck

Turn a 1980's light fixture into a lantern for your garden!

Don't throw it out! ....re-use it! We found this cool light fixture at a Thrift store and could not pass it up! With a little frost spray paint and black spray paint we gave it new life in the garden as a lantern!

  • Ballast in our light fixture went out, easy $20 fix.
  • As easy as taking old ballast out and putting new one in. Cut power at the circuit breaker first!
  • Old ballast still connected, new ballast to be installed.
  • Cut the colored wires to the old ballast and disconnect the black and white wires from the old ballast. 2
  • New ballast is going up
  • screwing in the new ballast before connecting the wires.
  • connecting the wires.
  • connecting the wires with the new push in wire connectors, MY NEW FAVORITE TOY, had not used these before!
  • My new favorite toy!
  • tuck all your wires in and put channel back in
  • get it all tucked in.
  • pop light bulbs in
  • I know it is not the newest most updated fixture but I like a LOT of light in my kitchen and have yet to find something that will make me spend the money of new fixtures. For now $20 is good!

Shout out to Mike at the Electrical department of Home Depot. Took me step by step on how to change the ballast out. Even made me a drawing to take home. Told me to call if I came upon any questions! Love those Home Improvement stores, YOU CAN DIY!
