Shade garden fence

This is a fence that we made out of very old windows and stair balusters, both left over from jobs my hubby did. The windows are so old that they have hand-rolled glass! There are two ...»
sections with my tea pot fountain set between the two fence sections. I love them because they are open and don't obstruct my view and they keep the dog from tearing through my shade garden!

Garden mailbox toolshed

Had this old package sized mailbox so decided to repurpose it into a mini shed out at my vegie garden. Now everything I need is right at my fingertips and everything stays dry and clean! So many people ask me why there is a mailbox out in my garden!

You can use hooks on both ends Tammy Hoffman, but I just open a link and attach it to another ...»
chain that suspends all of my feeders between two trees. This way the raccoons cannot get to them because it is not stable enough to support them, but is perfect for hanging the five feeders I have on it.

Painting: Should I use home-made chalk paint or ASCP?

This is my first attempt at painting furniture with the distressed look. Any tips or advice is greatly appreciated!

Gardening

This is my sideboard/dresser that sits on my deck. Found this old piece in our magic barn and put plastic liners in the drawers and fashioned a metal top for it. It also has a light inside that glows at night. Have no idea where it came from, but is now one of my favorite planters! I

Sherry, I don't seal anything that I use outside because it never works. What I try and do is ...»
protect what I can - we added a galvanized top that just sits on the top (we made it out of an old drip pan that used to reside under my Dad's car) and then we took the bottoms out of the drawers and modified plastic planter boxes to fit inside the drawer frames so the water for the plants doesn't drain into anything wood. We replaced the bottom of the cabinet with treated wood too. The doors usually need a screw or two when we bring it out every spring but it hasn't fallen apart yet. Everything I repuropse has a lifespan of it's own and when it's done I move on to the next project.

A flower vase my husband made! Just stunning!

My husband made this flower vase out of a branch he found in the woods by cutting it in half, drilling a hole for a test tube and then mounting it on a base. I absolutely love it!

  • Made with all kinds of different woods; lilac, maple, walnut, elm, catalpa, rose of sharon and purple heart.

A new little piece I've been working on...

Made with hundreds of pieces of branches from our woods, old shutter louvers and lots of time. It measures 5" x 5" and the heart is made of purple heart wood and we can laser engrave on it.

Hi Jayme, the purpleheart is the only wood that is not from our woods. It is native to Central ...»
and South America and is prized for the color of the heart wood, which is what you see here. There are 23 different species of it and it is incredibly dense and temperamental to work with. It also laser engraves well.
