My Water Garden, I Always Wanted and Visioned It, I Finally Made It,

I always knew I could never pay 10k to 15k to have a water feature installed in my back yard. One morning I picked up a shovel and started digging. The end result was a 16 x 20 foot beautiful backyard pond that started from a vision of what I wanted. Total cost of this project was $2000.00 for everything.
This area used to be a plain flat grass covered backyard. It was a perfect spot for my pond. The hardest part was digging the hole. The deepest area is 3.5' deep because I wanted fish. I used the dirt from the hole to build up the back cause I wanted the water falls. When I started this, I didn't know anything about building a water feature, It just started with a vision.

This is incredible!! I'd love to know more about your steps. What did you use to line the hole? How did you install the water fall part? I'm just SO impressed with your work!

@Tikva Morrow Thanks so much, I have been asked to put more photos up, I have a bunch of pictures from start to finish. My husband thought I was crazy so he was always snapping pictures. I purchased a pond kit off ebay for 1100.00. Its lined with a rubber liner. The water fall is the filter, Its a large plastic tub, a little over 2' in each direction. It had to be buried in the ground, so I used the dirt from the hole. I knew I wanted waterfalls so I had to build up in the rear. There is also a skimmer on the other end which holds the pump. I used a 2" diameter rubber hose to connect the 2, just like a swimming pool. the filter is filled with lava rock, and mother nature took over from there keeping a balance eco system. I purchased some rock and others I just picked up here and there. I will get pictures up as soon as possible. It was not hard at all. The hardest part was digging and some of the rocks were heavy. If I could do this, I truly believe anyone can.
