White Washed Paneling Over a Troubled Ceiling

When we started ripping in to our kitchen, being novices, we found all sorts of issues we weren't sure how to deal with - one being the ceiling!
Here's how the kitchen looked when we got this house - a foreclosure on an online auction! OH DEAR!
While Hubby was away at work, I decided to "open the space up a bit" and started knocking out the soffits. They exposed some bad plaster on the ceiling, and a few other issues I hadn't considered before smashing the walls with my hammer.
Might as well get rid of the rest of them while we're at it!
We bought sheets of paneling that had a white wash finish at Lowes.
We used liquid nails and a nail gun to attach it to the ceiling.
It is not perfect, as you can see some of the seams and nails, but it is a vast improvement and I love the look!

Sandra on Sep 22, 2015Yes, tell us where you got those lights. Barrbsie, I think do you have "popcorn" ceilings. I do and I hate it. We are going to have it removed soon. When we painted the walls I wanted to paint the ceiling. But, alas, my husband refused. I am from up north and we don't have these ceilings. I have seen lovely swirled ceilings, but this popcorn stuff is bad news. When you paint it, it drips and gets even worse. I think if you decide to get rid of your ceiling, a professional painter is the way to go unless you cover it up as Kami did, 'cause it's a mess! Meanwhile, Kami's ceiling is great!!! Good, good job!
