Spring Cleaning: DIY Shoe Storage Hack

This is one of my all-time-favorite DIYs that’s been serving me (and my flats) well for 10+ years. Ten years! Seriously.

Introducing the DIY Shoe Storage wine box hack!

I first saw this project in Real Simple magazine (j’adore!) and I think I made the versions pictured below when I was still in high school:

Those particular DIY shoe storage boxes came with me to the college dorms, then made it through two years of grad school, and a couple apartment moves since then. That’s an impressive run for an up-cycled wine box!

While they were still holding up pretty well, as seen above, I finally decided to replace my DIY wine box shoe storage, and videoed the simple process for you.

To make your own, you will need:

Supplies:

- wine box

- kraft or wrapping paper

- packing tape

- scissors

I like your idea. This reminds of the time I wrapped Christmas paper around a large box to use as a trash can during a Christmas party. I lined it with a large trash bag as well, so any spillage would not seep through the box. The trash was in plain sight, but no one could tell what it was. I have also used a wine box to take fragile items to the Salvation Army.
