How low can a window go behind sink?

Dee on Apr 19, 2015As long as you can open the window, I see nothing wrong with that. Especially if you have a beautiful backsplash.Helpful Reply

Pete Wells on Apr 19, 2015Yes, go for it! I have seen many windows in old homes where the bottom of the window may be a foot lower than the countertop, these look strange but people have come up with many solutions, usually involving planters..but the windows in my 1945 kitchen begin where the counter ends-with no ill effects..Helpful Reply

Nancy on Apr 19, 2015My window is at the same height as my sink....and is openable, which I love. The woodwork surrounging the window is painted in waterproof primer, and then paint. There is no backsplash, but I have tiled the actual windowsill, which helps with mopping up, but frankly there is never a lot of water behind the sink.....Yes, the window does get splashed a bit, but all it requires is a paper towel and some Windex to keep it clean....easy.Helpful Reply

Shari on Apr 19, 2015That should not be a problem, in my opinion. The window sill of my kitchen window is 5 1/2 inches above the countertop. Even if it were 1 to 1 1/2 inches lower, I don't think it would create a problem for me.Helpful Reply
