This kid's play table was inspired by the wooden blocks I played with as a child. It's table top is made of reclaimed wood and finished with a chalkboard paint. It inspires creativity and gives kids permission to write on the furniture. Cost with storage seats approximately $75.
Well like many bloggers..DIYers I have a 9 to 5. And sometimes I find myself daydreaming….about wood (yes wood, doubt judge me), woodworking and other DIY projects I could do around the house. Well one day I was in one of those meetings when I started doodling on a sticky note. It looked like alphabet blocks.
That sketch inspired me to go home and make a play table that made me think of wooden alphabet blocks. I started with a basic table top.
Constructed 4 smalls boxes to make up the legs.
Trimmed the boxes to resemble traditional wood blacks.
Then attached the "leg" blocks to the table top.
Once sanded it was time to get creative!
Using my new Cricut Explore I decoupaged the sides of the blocks with numbers and letters.
The kids loved it! Heck I loved it!
They even played with the wooden blocks that inspired me.

Timisha, I love your idea! So cute and built to hold, and even maybe on a patio for little ones to play with access to the yard. You have done a great job putting it all together (even though you was dreaming in your meeting LOL). I cant wait to see what you come up with! Thanks for sharing I enjoyed seeing it. Fantastic job!!

@Cindy Thank you Cindy! This is great for the patio. However it would need to be brought in after use. I didn't make it with exterior treated wood because of the chemicals in treated lumber. But maybe it can be done with plastic...Hmmmmm I might have to make another ;)
