I want to preserve this wonderful picture

This poster, make of corrugated cardboard, was used on the backside of a picture. I like it better than the picture. I want to preserve it and make it a tabletop. Suggestions? I considered using modpodge then covering it with resin. I welcome your thoughts. I want to make it a tabletop that will go on a director's chair.
Here's the picture. It's Greta Garbo, right?
This is what I want to put it on. I plan to paint the director's chair and make it vintage to go with the picture. I have the frame, which when turned the other way, makes for a great frame for the table.
Note the tattered edges, etc.

@Lucky Dog Upcycle That print looks familiar but can't think of where I've seen it. I would first mount it to a plywood backing, then frame it out & have a tabletop safety glass cut for it. The glass would most likely be expensive though..... :/

I believe it's an image of Greta Garbo. Not sure of the movie, but it definitely looks like it was taken from a promotional poster. Nice find!

I have one similar of the Gone with the WInd release in atlanta on the day it came out. Its tucked behind a book shelf because i cant bring myself to alter it for some reason or even frame it for that matter. I KNOW it came as a gift to the guests on opening night kinda like the gift bags at awards shows and most likely worth something by now but i cant do anything PERMANENT to alter it...good luck. I have a Kate Hepburn id love to make a small table out of as well.

if you go to a shop that does glass for cars you may be able to get a deal for such small piece of glass. I have never paid over 10.00 for glass to cover a vintage print I have found. I can even buy Mirror cheaper there also. Just look up a store that deals in fixing broken glass or mirrors in cars. Here in Delaware I go to Vinnie's in Newport. Another way to get glass cheap is shop at the flea market, take the measurements with you that you need. If you find a print you really do not like but it has glass, there you go. Cutting glass is easy, too, with a glass cutter you can purchase at any hardware store. In fact, whenever I am at the flea market I look for ugly prints that are framed so I always have glass on hand if I need it....same thing with old mirrors. Even if I do not care for the frame of the mirror, if it s old mirror and cheap I buy it, put it in the shed...never know when you will find the right gesso frame.

If you don't want to alter the original, maybe have a copy made and just mod podge the copy onto your table or cut to size and top it with a piece of glass, you can then use the original for any future ideas you may have.

I think this is Greta Garbo in the "Painted Veil" A 1940's Movie. I believe. I would use it as Wall Art..

I am a professional art conservator, and a great deal of value has been lost because the poster has been cut: however it is cut in a very attractive way and should be used as wall art. A plain frame and and glass will not be THAT expensive. Go to Goodwill or other thrift store and you can probably find a suitable frame. It simply needs a narrow spacer which can be 1/2 inch strips of mat board mitered in the corners. The frame should be black. The best thing would be to have it done by a frame shop, but it is a doable project for yourself. You definitely should not Mod-Podge it or alter it. It will be worth much more properly framed as a decorative piece. You could also take it to a blueprint shop or photo color lab to be copied at the same size and use on the table, but you shouldn't use the original.

Mod Podge it. I do this with pictures in magazines. I first adhere it with mod Podge to cardboard. Let it dry completely. I use a small wooden wallpaper roller to smooth and prevent air bubbles. I then use a paintbrush to apply mod Podge vertically, let dry then horizontally. It gives the illusion of an oil painting. I then frame in old flea market frame finds.
