I got this old table at a shop for $5.00. Couldn't pass it up as I loved the table and shelf part of it. I knew it was something I could use to make a fun table for my GrandDaughter who is 3...and Oh My YES...it WAS!
This was the table...it was pretty beat up, but knew it would paint well.
Samantha was excited that her Nonnie was making a table for her and wanted to help. So we got out the good ol' soap and water and got started. She did GREAT cleaning it.
I asked her what color she wanted the top (secretly knowing that she and I share our favorite color) and of COURSE pink was the answer. So I spray painted the top pink.
Next I printed out two ABC sheets, and modge podged them onto the top. After it was dry, I took to two clear "transfer" sheets of paper and modge podged them over the top of the print outs to keep them from tearing, weather, etc.
This is what they look like up close. Now she can say, learn and practice her ABC's. I did have to cover them with paint tape and respray the top as the top and bottom of the transfer sheets (which were bigger then the ABC print outs) showed the modge podge. But a recoat of spray paint did the trick to hide them.
Now it was time to prime (black spray paint) the bottom half before applying chalk board spray paint.
Two coats of chalk board paint and it was done. Added a basket underneath for chalk, stickers, and normal 3 yr old what nots. I also took the legs off and am attaching wheel casters so she can move it around easily.
Last touch, was to spray paint the basket to match the top. These are the wheels I put on it, but I think they are too small, so going to get bigger ones and attach them instead. Now she can write her ABC's and draw to her little hearts content!
