Should I continue floor tile up to chair rail height in bathroom?

Question

We are re-doing 1954 bathroom. Complete gut. We selected 18x18 floor ceramic floor tiles (Mesa beige color) and want to continue the tile to where the chair rail was, paint the rest of the walls and tile the tub alcove in 8x12 or 8x20 glazed tile in same color pallet as floor. Does this seem feasible? Ideas, inspiration, and tips/tricks needed. Pics of your bathroom re-dos? Thanks!

I think it would look good, but you might have to put some kind of substrate on the walls first. You might also get tired of all that beige.

I've done this with all my bathrooms, but in three, the floor was mosaic and the walls were subway tile or beadboard and went up about 40'. In the master, we went up with the same tile as the floor, but it does have a decorative trim along the top - about 36' up - in a full but small bathroom. We did that bathroom about 12 years ago and while I still like it, I wish I had done a more old fashion timeless look like the others, because I fear it will look dated in a few years.

I wouldn't use the floor tile on the walls. How about subway tile topped with a chair rail tile? We did that in our bathroom and I love it.

Excuse the mess, lol. Originally I wanted wainscot, but being a wet area, it would not have worked. We achieved the same effect using subway tile and the chair rail topper. I love that it is a timeless look, which would work in most homes.

Master bath - done about 12 years ago so fixtures are brass.
Floor tile does go up the wall.

Here is the upstairs 'kids' bathroom - floor tile and wall tile are different - wall is subway tile about 40' up.
Next is main floor powder room - beadboard wallpaper wainscot.
Last - Basement bathroom - subway tile wainscot, about 40' up.

If I could do it over - and I might, I would possibly do the subway in the master too and a claw foot tub. I might try to find the tile from the master, remove the big tub, tile the floor and walls like the rest already there and put in a claw foot tub, but I have to see if I can find the tile first. That would be less expensive than a total redo.

I regretted removing mine...It was so much easier to clean under the towel rod, than drywall...so yes I would tile part of the wall.

Some people make wet rooms within their bathroom and take the tile all the way to the ceiling. Why not! Makes sense really.

I would mix the two tiles larger format on floor and a simple subway on the wall? It's a more classic feel.
