Is it better to build a pond in the shade or sun?

When we built my wife's ponds we put two of them in the shade and one of them in partial shade and one in full sun. The one that is in full sun has more algae growing in it the any of the other three. Hope this helps

If you want plants and fish - i the sun. A tree grew up and shaded mine and all the plants died.

If you want a pond in the shade then ask yourself why is that spot shady? If it is due to trees and shrubs then do they shed their leaves as you will end up with a very messy pond full of leaves if you are not careful.
